About the Opportunity
We are looking for an Occupational Therapist (2+ years experience) to work with adults and older people, supporting them to live their best lives with independence, dignity, and well-being. You’ll have the opportunity to work with a diverse range of clients, and we’ll support you in tailoring your caseload to your specific areas of interest, including but not limited to: TAC (Transport Accident Commission) clients, NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme) participants, Home Care Package recipients, Home Modification, Assistive Technology, Therapeutic Intervention such as Neuro Affirming Practices or COPE for those living with Dementia as examples.
Your role will be to provide individualised, client-focused occupational therapy services to help clients achieve their goals, maintain independence, and improve their quality of life. You’ll work in close collaboration with other allied health professionals and provide tailored interventions that align with each client’s needs and preferences.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to determine the needs of clients, identifying functional limitations and goals.
- Develop and implement client-centered treatment plans to address physical, cognitive, and environmental barriers to daily living.
- Specialise in and provide expert advice on areas such as TAC, NDIS, Home Care Packages, Home Modifications, and Assistive Technology.
- Collaborate with clients, families, and other professionals to develop practical solutions and strategies that promote independence and safety.
- Monitor and review client progress, adjusting interventions as necessary to achieve optimal outcomes.
- Maintain accurate client documentation and ensure compliance with relevant professional and regulatory standards.
- Participate in regular multidisciplinary team meetings and case conferences to ensure integrated care.
- Stay updated with the latest research and best practices in occupational therapy to continuously improve service delivery.
Skills and Experience Required
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- 2+ years of experience as an Occupational Therapist, ideally working with adults and older people.
- Relevant Qualifications: A degree in Occupational Therapy and registration with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency).
- Clinical Competency: Strong clinical skills with the ability to assess and manage complex cases.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to liaise with clients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Empathy and Compassion: A passion for helping adults and older people live independently and achieve their personal goals.
- Organisational Skills: Strong time management, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
- Compliance: National Police Check, Working with Children’s Check, Driver’s License, and NDIS Worker Screening Check.
